Frankly speaking

It is said that many people would rather welcome death than face the prospect of speaking publicly. Funny, it takes all kinds to make the world go round. I am firmly not in the above mentioned group. I love the opportunity to get in front of people and share ideas, thoughts, stories, and commentary on a variety of subjects.
One of the areas I have been working on lately is humor. Have you ever tried to be funny? Intentionally? I have met my match when it comes to speaking humorously. I have been working on it for about a year now and I have failed more times than I care to admit. My hat is off to those comedians and speakers who make us laugh. Being intentionally funny is hard work!
However, I have some good news! I have finally written something that tickles the funny bone and is relatable to an audience! It is a great feeling to finally achieve a goal, even if it is to make people laugh at you. Er, I mean at your words!
I recently won a Toastmasters Humorous speech contest and I could not be more happy! I encourage anyone who would rather die than publicly speak to change their paradigm and take a swing. How do I recommend this?
I whole-heartedly endorse a Toastmasters club. It is an inviting and safe environment that walks one through the steps to becoming a public speaker. I am not promising lucrative speaking contracts, but I am promising you a much more comfortable experience the next time you are asked to speak at church, work, or maybe even during an awards banquet!
Take a moment and look at www.toastmasters.org and read all about it and then find a club near you.
Better yet, come check my club! It has been an award-winning club for 5 years running! We would love to have you. For more information go to: www.lonepeaktoastmasters.com
